Tl:dr
Need new pc mainly for running low spec games, some admin.
Dont want to spend a fortune.
Looking for general advice.
Even more specific tips.

Hello I'm looking to buy a pc. My one is 10 years old and probably not worth upgrading.
Searching for a little info/advice in the best way to go about thism

Managed to reformat it ans get some d2 running but the machine is slow and not upto scratch.

My goals - run upto 4 d2's simultaneously with virtual machines
Run other old RTS games from steam client.
Browse internet
Emails
Computer is safe, fast and reliable

Not my goals - run higher spec modern games
Using editing software
Streaming

A bonus would be if I can buy a setup that I can part upgrade In the future, for example add ram, upgrade graphics card.
Basically a 'strong core' which I heard said.

Some questions I have -
What exactly is a strong core, of a machine? The processor alone?

Where would you suggest I purchase a machine? In store? Online retailer?

Is it less expensive to buy parts and build myself?

Can you recommend any setups?

Anything you can answer would be appreciated! Thanks

At the moment I'm using a large TV as monitor. I quite like it.
Dont need a sound card. Other than a very basic or built in one.

Have a decent wireless adapter.
Could be interested in a better mouse. have keyboard

Budget: 400-500 £
Time till purchase: 2-4weeks from now
