I have a modem provided by my ISP and I also have my own router. Should DHCP be enable on the modem or the router?

it NEEDS to be on if you don't want to assign an IP address to every device you want to connect to your network, and by assign i also mean manually adding it to every menu of every device you own. ha!

some ISP's have gateway combos where it handles the modem and the DHCP traffic, but it's typically when you are paying for a "full service" like wifi enabled or an all in one device rented from isp.
