Old PC from 2013. Wondering how comparable pricing to performance is now? Think we may see a decline in prices or increase due to COVID-19?

Just needed a new GPU that I am using as per speccy, due to old one dying.

Starting on about the 27th of April the computer parts prices and out of stock prices have gone haywire.
Vid card and motherboard prices going up fast. Power supply prices going up. Lots of items going out of stock all across the US.

Are you selling, buying, what exactly is your question? :)

Wanted to look into buying new pc parts but I guess that's not a great idea right now.

It sort of depends on what and where you buy. If you're just looking for a used vid card, you might be OK. The prices of the new ones are going crazy, and like I mentioned, they are disappearing from stock all over the US.

For example...

Well, just go to pcpartpicker and mess around with building one...see how the price comes out.

It's probably due to lack of availability, but that power supply in the pic in your post, is now $214.00

you can get a rx580 for its usual price right now if you need a tie over

anything higher would be bottlenecked by the cpu

I did, put in building thread : https://pcpartpicker.com/list/L2TmvW
But yea it has jumped in price by nearly $100 since just a few hours ago! I guess now may not be a great time to get a good deal... Sort of just playing around with the build and trying to get ideas and see where I can compromise on a part for best deal/price. Only posting this build here as a response to ghot, not trying to derail the thread from the other one or do multiple posts...

I am considering just editing the build I have now. But since the mobo is outdated, I think its just easier to build a whole new pc and either sell the old one, or keep it for parts and such. Like I may just add the HDD from old build to new 1 along with extra storage.

If now isnt a good time. No way to really know. But I'd speculate we may see this ongoing issue for several months if not even longer...
