K so within the last week the computer has randomly shut off (black out) during games or a heavy load. Not really sure it's maybe 3-4 years old (PSU).

Have already gone thru the following steps
-Clean install of windows/drivers
-Reset bios to factory settings
-Core temps are sub 60 at full load

Stress tests work fine until you load the whole system and then it fails within 20 seconds or so.

PSU is a hx1000i by corsair.

Any thoughts

I didn't try memtest but I can tonight.

And negative on the psu/dimms sadly for having spares.

Iirc, HWMonitor has three columns... low, high and average. It shows power supply voltages.

When stressing the system, keep an eye on the high column voltages, right up until the system fails.

Long time no see. :)

/e They also sell relatively cheap ($15) power supply testers, though I'm not sure how useful they would be in your situation.

Are we looking at voltages on MOBO?

Side note, will it save anything before it shuts down?

Yeah jumping the PSU wouldn't do too much for me. It works under light load. Could be a bad ground on mobo im thinking.

I have no clue where they are grabbing the voltage readings. It might be the motherboard, and it may be internal PSU sensors.

You could use a volt meter on the 24 pin connector, from the backside, with leads with thin contacts. Again, I don't know how useful it would be diagnosing your possible issue.

If you have a local mom & pop computer shop, they probably have another power supply they could use to see if it IS your PSU. You would have to take the tower in, ofc. And I'm sure they would charge... something.
Best Buy could probably do this also... but it may take days, and cost more.

/e I doubt it would "save" anything, through a shut down... but if you happen to be "watching" it as you stress... it may "show" something.

/ee HWMonitor shows Value, Min and Max. But I don't know how "fast" it polls. It may be too slow to show anything conclusive. But it's an easy and free attempt at diagnosis. It has the value of monitoring the PSU under load as well.

Well it passed memtest with zero errors

Cause its not a RAM issue.
Ram creates BSOD errors.

also morning Mathias.
