So.. I've recently got the ability to get back into gaming and I'm a little bit rusty in terms of what's on the market. I am still not sure about either a laptop or desktop (I never had a gaming laptop.. always desktop that I built myself.) but I tend to move around and travel alot now.

I've always been sold to Intel CPUs and Asus GPUs and I've looked into Asus RoG gaming laptops and all seem very performing.

I want something that will run very nice graphics smoothly and with a good cooling system.

My budget is limited to like 4200$. Can be lower tho or a little over but I don't want to be spending too much.

I see that everything comes with the latest windows... what's up with that is it really good for gaming? I've always used w7...

If there are some questions maybe I could answer to be more specific I can't think of them on the top of my head.

Thanks in advance!

First things first. You're pretty much gonna be stuck with Win 10. Most of the new motherboards and laptops don't even support Windows 7 drivers anymore.

When trying to sort through the 8 zillion laptops out there, I use Newegg.ca (in your case), as Newegg allows you to sort quickly, via their excellent navigation on the left side of their page.

I will presort a bit for you... something like this...

https://www.newegg.ca/p/pl?N=100166770%2050001312%2050001315%204814%20600553910%20601327202%20600004748%20600136700%20600337010%20600440394%20600470742%20600423159%20601296067&Order=PRICE

I also sorted on Newegg.com because the US site seems to have a larger selection of CPUs than Canada does?

https://www.newegg.com/p/pl?N=100167732%2050001312%2050001315%204814%20600553908%20600553910%20601327079%20601327202%20600004748%20600136700%20600337010%20600440394%20600470742%20601296067%20601296069&Order=PRICE

Anyways, once you find the one you like, just do a search (make/model) in Canada to see where to buy. For the CPU, Intel has a 9000 and 10000 series (which I didn't see at Newegg.ca).

Generally for a gaming laptop, you will want...

1. High refresh rate IPS screen (for first person shooters), and I would avoid touch screens (which add to the cost but not the functionality, really)
2. Lot of RAM up to say 32GB. (16GB minimum)
3. SSD (for speed) and a hard drive (for storage)
4. As for the vid card I would suggest a 2070 or 2080 for serious gaming. No lower than a 2060 in any case.
5. Most people like 15.6 inch screens for the light weight, but I've seen some laptop gamers that also like the 17.3 inch screens for size.
6. The laptop's biggest weakness is the battery, so look for one with high number of cells or high Wh(s) (watt hours)

After these things, the rest is pretty much personal preference.

/e Almost forgot... after you're done with the left navigation pane sorting, always sort for (price: lowest to highest, at top center of page).

/ee As for cooling, try to find the laptops with the best cooling (usually mentioned in the "features"), but remember that there are many 3rd party laptop coolers available as well.
