looking to try this nvidia shield thing to stream games from pc to tv in living room over ethernet able
got a geforce gtx 970 with an amd fx 8350 and 32 gb of memory

can i stream games in 1080 and have it work well on my tv?

Text won't be as clear on the TV as it is on the monitor.

You could also just do "dual monitors". I just have an HDMI cable running from vid card to TV. DVI from PC to monitor.

I just looked it up... HDMI cables can do 50 ft.

That I couldn't tell ya. If we are talking wired...I would assume so. The only problem I could see is if the wires for the game pad were too thin... (really thin) so as to introduce line loss.
The game pad is really just a bunch of switches... I would think they would be able to handle line loss, better than say an audio signal would.


I don't have these issues. My TV is 7 ft. from my comp. :)

50' HDMI cables are teh debil. Notorious for HDCP sync/handshake errors (although they do perform better if they're going straight from source to display, and not through a receiver, HDMI switch, etc).
