Snagged a MacBook from a auction dirt cheap for wife(I hate MacBooks). Missing 2 keys ordered replacements other than that perfect. BUT computer is slower than my grandma. System is running 90% user is 10%. Kernel_task is running 375.2% (what the fuk) how do I fix this.


/also ordered a new hard drive from eBay and on the hard drive it has some Carbon Copy Cloner? Can’t find shit about it online but assuming it makes copies of the operating system and the seller transfers into a bunch a hard drives? Idk I need help should I return the hard drive?

One of my old macbooks had a similar issue, which I believe was a simple sensor issue. When one of the motherboard sensors are off/defective, the whole computer can slow down

Edit: Best to take it to a 3rd party repairer, It didn't cost me much to fix at all. Apple stores will says its unfixable and to replace the whole board

Yeah its most likely a sensor issue, a shop will look over the whole board of course, check for water damage etc.

Shouldn't hurt the wallet too much!

As for the harddrive, someone else may be able to answer that, I'm not too familiar with it.

He runs a small electronics repair shop in New York based almost entirely on fixing widespread hardware issues on Apple products. They're a garbage company through and through. Sell laptop and wife to next schmuck IMO.
