Brand new Z390-A Mobo

(Talked to Ghot about this in depth + tried a few bios settings with him to no avail)

So slot B2 Works Fine, Slot A2 Doesnt work.
Tried both sticks in A2 Wont boot.
Tried both sticks in B2 will Boot.

When i use dual channel the pc starts up then shuts off multiple times.

BIG OOPS ON MY PART: #@$@#$

I didnt reinstall windows 10 on my old pc before putting this together.

Is it possible my ram isnt working because my drivers are conflicting with eachother or because i didnt reinstall windows ? (Possible combination of both)

I ran DDU for my graphics driver because (MY gfx driver when first booted on this pc said it wasnt detected so i reinstalled that driver)

I'll try to have ghot post here as well to say what he tried doing with me as well (Im not widely computer literate to say the least lmao)

Wanted to have a discussion before i call asus and tell them the problem.

Rule 1 never listen to ghot

In the manual does it say
Use those slots
Not a1 and b1?

If so then most likely faulty slot
Pretty common thing

Could also do a bios update

A2 and B2 are the slots the manual says to use, I never updated the bios but should i do that with a new windows install.

Btw, Ghot is a nice guy.
I come to this sf sometimes and your posts are always very demeaning, Should relax but anyway onto the subject at hand.

The manual says use a2 and b2.... but we tried a1 and b1 as well.
He has two sets of DDR4 RAM. the sets are 2x8GB. We tried every stick, one at a time in slot 4 (b2) and the comp boots, no problem.
As soon as we put the 2nd stick of the set into A2... no boot.

With only one stick in slot 4 (b2) we could get into the BIOS as well. Tried the RAM settings on AUTO, XMP 1 and XMP II. No joy, when we added the 2nd stick.

So if you have any better ideas... just spit 'em out. ^^

/e Btw, it's a new motherboard and RAM set.

Besides the obvious:

Quote
Check model# of the memory
Check if all the memory is ECC or all non-ECC or REG or unregistered
Press MemOK (Motherboard w/ MemOK only) to run memory at SPD and all auto
Check if the memory meets frequency requirements on the Server/ Motherboard memory specifications page:
Example: Z11PA-U12/10G-2S - Memory Type :
Single Channel DDR4 2933/2666/2400
Memory must be 2933Mhz or 2666Mhz or 2400Mhz to detect and work properly
Check memory QVL for memory model. If memory not in the QVL and not detect, please try memory in the QVL list.
Please clear CMOS first and check if memory is detected
If Clear CMOS doesn't work, please try to update BIOS.
After updating BIOS, put one memory on A1 slot only and test if memory is detected. Add second memory to B1 slot; please refer to motherboard manual for memory slot population.
Insert single memory on the A1 and test for 1 CPU socket Server MB; insert 2 memory (2 CPU sockets) - A1 and G1 and check if detected

If the processor is an LGA1151 processor, and the RAM is DDR4 2x8GB unbuffered and non-ECC, then a single stick of RAM in A2 should be fine.

I would recommend returning it to the store and getting a new one.
