Hello again. I'm looking for a new graphics card. Currently I have a GTX 970. Is there anything special out there? Anything different between Radeon and GeForce? Anything new coming out I should hold off for?

Thanks. Anything good around 500 bucks? I don't mind spending more if I need to.

only 20% behind a 2070 iirc and half the price.
If you power table mod it you can match/out perform a 2070 as well.
Or buy 2 and crossfire them and shit all over it provided you have the wattage.

I hear if you have enough frames in a game already, you don't need to use gsync or free sync and that they increase lag. Is this true?

That's more of a vsync thing, it can create input lag in some scenarios.
That being said, if you aren't having problems with frame drops, then no you really wont get any benefit out of using freesync/gsync.
RTX 2070 if you want more of a long term solution. Vega 56 is cheaper and can by modded (bios flash, power limits, etc) and crossfired to compete with higher end hardware, but at the expense of efficiency. The nvidia cards use significantly less power than the vega card. If you really aren't in a big hurry tho, wait till end of summer and see what navi looks like or if nvidia has any mid generation releases coming.

I'm thinking a 2070. I hear there are problem with the Vega 56 and I only want to run 1 card regardless.

Thank you for the help. :)

Its mostly just that they're hot. They run way above their optimal efficiency to try and compete performance wise.

E/ also stay away from Asus cards IMO, they've been having troubles with their rtx lineup (just go read some newegg reviews about all the dead cards)
