my buddys xbox is old and wants to get it cleaned / maybe a tune up cause its shit

any recommendations on where he could go to take it and how much do you think it'd run em?

any help appreciated

Your buddy could probably do it himself tbh.
Find out if it has a proprietary screw driver you need to order first.
Then a duster can and some thermal paste.
should be many disassembly video's on youtube.

shop would charge imo 50-100$ and parts maybe 10$ if he does himself

Honestly even just a dusting would make a big difference so it can get its airflow to the cooling parts. If he has access to an air compressor, those work extremely well too since they are generally much higher pressure than a duster can.

If using a compressor ensure you have a water trap and the PSI is no more then 70 or so.
Additionally fix fan blades from moving when cleaning.

Fan blades true. I clean my PC out with about 150-200 psi and have never had any issues with it; however I don't hold the nozzle point blank to components. To make sure you don't have any water vapor built up, don't keep compressed air stored, use new air, and spray for just a couple seconds and you'll be able to see if there's any measurable amount of water built up.
