So here is my problem:

I am running multiple instances of diablo 2 with this computer, Around 150 instances (50% CPU Load) it gets extremely sluggish and programs start to crash and PC is nearly unusable.

but

If I run something like Prime95 the computer works fine even at 100% CPU Load, no sluggish responses no crashes, just a great working computer

I have ran multple passes with memtest86 and they all passed as well.

Any ideas what can be causing this issue?

Note * I am currently running Prime 95 with about 100 instances of Diablo 2 going and it has not slowed down 1 bit.

if i had to take a guess d2 is single treaded and not optimized to run on multiple cores, could cause problems splitting up the cpu load

it is, but i dont understand why my previous pc's had no issues running 100+ copies and tthis more powerful pc does.

buuut one thing to note, i set it to use 8 cores and it did work without gfetting sluggish

yea i thought so.. well did ur old pc have better single core performance?

yeah i guess u could just make VM's with a couple of cores assigned to each one, might work better

My old PC was an AMD fx 3520 iirc. I want to say it did not have better single core performance but I could be wrong.
I'll try the vm thing

Could be a windows scheduler issue, it isn't very good when you get above 8 core/16 thread. When it's handled by a program (ie prime95), then windows doesn't run into the problems from it.
