My buddy’s friend had an extra 980 sitting around his house and sent it to me however, I found out my PSU doesn’t have 2 6-pin wires to connect to it. It only has 1. I believe the other parts besides the SATA cords on the PSU are called LP4 (?). Not 100% sure. I was looking at adapters and I found I could buy a LP4 to 6-pin adapater. Would this work?

we have no idea how much wattage it is and how much your system draws.
overload it and may fry whole system.

i know what a psu, i dont know what you meant by depends on psu. such as your second comment. its a 500 watt psu.

it is a prebuilt.. im upgrading, but wanted to use this as a stream pc, if possible.

This for sure, also be careful with prebuilt machines list rating. Get a cheap voltmeter if you are wary
