Hey all, I hope this is the right section for this...

I'll start off by saying I'm not very handy at all with computers.

2 nights ago the hard drive failed in my old Macbook Pro. I bought it in 2010 but the thing was a champion and it ran Diablo 2 no problem (until it died). I have a computer that is mine through work, it's a 2015 Macbook pro, much newer and more memory etc. However, this newer computer runs Diablo 2 with horrendous lag.
- there is no lag while browsing the internet
- the game loads up instantly
- I'm able to join games instantly
- There is no chat delay
however, with in-game actions there is a horrendous delay talking to NPCs, picking up items, using abilities, etc.

I feel like there is just something i'm doing wrong. I don't see why this new computer runs the game slowly when the older computer ran it flawlessly.
i'm on
OS X El Capitan version 10.11.6
2.7 gh intel core i5
8gb 1867 MHz ddr3
intel iris graphics 6100 1535 MB

Has anyone else experienced this and is there any advice you can give me?
Help is greatly appreciated!

Look into svens glide wrapper. Not sure how it works with mac, but it solves a lot of compatibility issues with newer versions of direct x

Sounds like an issue with the OS. The new computer is too new to run old games smoothly anymore.

my brother just purchased a newer 2017 Macbook Pro that runs the game fine

i feel like there must be some setting that i'm simply not using correctly.

i've deleted and reinstalled, downloaded the patches. My macbook says there are no new updates.

even stranger - i just had a 24 hour period where the game was running fine. I thought that all my problems were gone. but then i wake up this morning and the horrible delay is back. when i write /fps it shows 60FPS but my PING fluctuates between 80 and 2,000!
i'm on fiber internet and all of my browsers are functioning quickly and properly. it is only this game, when in-game, that has any kind of delay

it's becoming very frustrating and i hope someone else has experienced this and can offer me some advice!

Hmm.. I'm not sure why your ping jumps around. Bad connection to the server maybe.

Maybe try running the Windows version of it in Wine.
