Bought an 8700K and my temps seem pretty high, 1.200V 4.7GHz all cores and im doing 85C in x264 with ~23C ambient.

I don't feel any heat coming from the radiator of my H100i V2 if I touch it, the air coming from the radiator fans is cool and one tube feels ever so slightly warm while the other is cool.

Pump must have failed right? Or does it just need a delid that badly

delid
fyi that 85 over a few hours can reach 95 very easily as teh fluid starts to warm up.

which motherboard are you using?

what are you using for monitoring?

are you using mce?

Gigabyte z370 aorus ultra gaming 7 and the latest version of HWMonitor
yeah I just have MCE on and everything auto. Voltage bounces a bit between 1.188 and 1.200 with all 6 cores locked at 4.7GHz while x264 is running

I just turned MCE on to make the heat differential between the two tubes more pronounced, to make sure i wasn't just crazy thinking one was warmer than the other. Even at stock settings like 1.068V I hit 70C, seems kinda warm but idk

it really does seem like the heats not even leaving the cpu but the one warm tube is raising my suspicion

i'm on the latest bios

disabled MCE, running 1.176V 4.7GHz all cores, still hitting 83C

and this is with my h100i v2 pump and fans both set to extreme lol

Can you hear the pump? They're not silent.

good call, that reminded what it used to sound like. almost certain it's not making any noise now. i put the fans on quiet mode to try and hear better and within 3 minutes my temps went up to 89C

if pump was dead though wouldn't the fan speed not really matter that much?

haven't tried that yet but it's on there pretty tight

/e yeah that's enough for me. one warm tube, cold rad, cold tube, cold air from fans, no pump noise, shit temps. definitely failed pump lol ticket submitted

a dead cooler is causing 85c

it would mean your cpu will go to max
then overheat and shut off

sounds like bad mount
bad thermal shit
