So whenever i check my task manager i see my cpu at like 80% and then it goes down to 20% a second later same as my disk drive

my comp specs is

pny GTX 1060 6gb
16gb ram
i5 7600k 3.80 ghz
asus z90 pro motherboard

Is that normal? i know my computer has good specs and that it shouldn't even be nearing 80% esp when i just play dark souls 2 and im on discord ( which takes like 20% of my cpu )

When the CPU usage goes up like that, have you checked in Task Manager to see what "process" is causing it?

Only things I can think would be the game itself, discord, or an infection. Did this high CPU usage just start recently or has it been happening all along?

Im would run Malwarebytes for a 2nd opinion. If that comes up clean, I would guess it's a windows setting. What version of Windows? I'm assuming Windows 10?

Well, malwarebytes has a free or trial version, and it's a good scanner. Does this happen with other games or just DS2?

I discovered a solution and now the game is working normally.

I went to the game folder in the Steam folder and looked for the .exe file. After locating it I right-clicked the "previous versions" options and ran a previous version of .exe with a double click.
