Looking for full-size (over ear) headphones for use on my PC. Thinking of USB as I believe the audio jack on the front of my PC is wearing out (unless the cord is long enough to reach the back of the PC. Don't want one with a mic attached.
Is there a huge difference between USB or the 3.5mm plug ins?
Budget is around 100 bucks at a Best Buy.
Both digital sound if it's just coming out of mobo/case IO. However, USB can be powered so it could have the benefit of powering a small inline amp (eg what turtle beach uses).
That being said, I know a lot of people like the Sennheiser headphones around 100. Personally, I have the Philips SHP9500, and I like them. They are open back, so not really noise canceling, but have really good soundstage (you can kindv'e tell what direction sound is supposed to be coming from).
The included cable is around 5-6' IIRC, but I have a vmoda mic attached so I could be wrong. You could always just buy a 10' cable online tho if that's an issue.
The SHP9500's are also only around $50.
Something cool the r/headphoneadvice page has:
