so my daughter was using wife's laptop playing a game.. and from what I'm told the laptop shut down and booted to bios.

to me from the bios and nothing in the boot menu my harddrive died. can anyone confirm?
or anything I could try.

When in the BIOS hit the F10 key to save and exit the BIOS and see if the computer boots. If it doesn't, what message if any, is it giving you.

tried that. it shut down, rebooted back to bios.
I didnt hear any beeps codes. I'll give it a second attempt shortly

How old is the laptop? Has it been dropped? Even gently?

to my knowledge it hasn't bee n dropped.
I just got this like a month ago.
but my wife's been letting my daughter use it

I f you just got it, then I would probably just RMA it. Take it in to get fixed, etc.

It could be the HDD or it could be the boot manager is all messed up. <--- software.
I guess there's a remote chance that the HDD connection came loose.

Well, you can check if it pulled loose from it's connector. It should be easy to access. You can go on Youtube and do a search for the make/model of your laptop.
