Decided I wanted to push my framerate up a bit at 1440p, so I sold my R5 1600 and grabbed an 8600K and EVGA Z370 Micro.

Now, I'm stable at 5 GHz with 1.3v. Temps run up to 88C under RealBench stress. Do I de-lid and see how far we can push (likely only .1 or .2 GHz more) or just keep it here?

Until others come on to verify, I can report they have claimed 10-20C drop in temps after delidding.

I've done it myself and had a 15-20C drop more than once. Just curious if anyone think it's worth it when my temps aren't dangerous.

What are your temps when gaming? If you only need it for gaming, that probably isn't nearly as hard on the CPU as realbench.

I'd say yes it's worth it. I mean 88C is on the high side of acceptable...now. But the CPU will age. I figure, why help it age faster.

Where's the hell no option?

I mean if you have the money to replace it if it messes up then do it.
