my old HP desktop and it freezes at the HP start screen. Similar to the image below




Except i don't get any options other than the f10

and it doesnt respond to pressing f10

try flashing bios and/or clearing cmos.

oh yeah and defective hardware can cause issues like this.
So disconnect everything internally then reconnect only the essentials.
if you get a post add back device by device to narrow it down.

had no clue what any of that meant but googled it and fixed the problem

Now I realized the problem is actually still there... everytime I turn off the PC I need to take out the cmos battery and put it back in to start up the PC

(I didnt flash the bios, will read a bit about what that means tomorrow)
