We’re currently upgrading our networking st home and currently have a Nighthawk x6 router and an Arris SB8200 modem out in the main family run

I currently have an Ethernet hooked up to the X6 running into my room and into my PC probably 50 feet or so away

Would it be effective to get a personal router for my own bedroom and plug the main Ethernet into that one and then plug that router into my pc?

Nah that would not make any sense. Why would you like to have two router on the same network?
Would only make sense with huge WANs.

There's nothing better for connectivity that CAT5-6 cable.

If you need better signal coverage, look into mesh network. Otherwise you will just have competing signals that will just cause more ping.
Mesh or wired.

It's better just to straight up put the ethernet cable into your PC directly instead. You would have to subnet your network or at least bridge your secondary router.

Do you need better WIFI down in your room?
