If I have an infected harddrive, will it be safe to install a new GPU I bought until my new SSD comes in the mail?

It shouldn't affect the vid card.

I would run Malwarebytes and then run the ESET online scanner on the drive though.
I'd worry more about login credentials, or other private information you may have on your hard drive, than I would about the hardware.
