55 inch was the size I was looking for, and within a 600-1000 budget.

Even though the Sony is over $300 more, I am leaning to this because I've never had an issue with Sony products. TCL on the other hand is a Chinese company and never owned one of their TVs, so I am a little skeptical.

Anyone have input? Particularly if TCL is reliable enough to dump that much money in a TV

I have the p607, Which is the 2017 model of the one you listed. They've been hailed as the best TV for under $1000~


I havent really looked into the new 2018 models, But They look amazing spec wise.

Based on what I see on rtings, I would buy it in a heart beat if it was another brand. Has your older model been reliable? $650 vs $1000 is what is making me even consider it. Seems like it has very similar performance to the Sony.

Was one of the most important factors when gaming on a TV is the response time and input lag..
I see you did you research because the are both great in this class.
Sony XBR55X900E does a better job tho. My money would be on this TV over the other.

Yes it was, in fact it was probably one of my higher priorities. I know the Sony is better overall, but that 350 price difference is the only reason I'm considering the TCL.

I was actually looking at the Sony 800E initially, as it had nearly identical input lag, but it had issues with black colors, among other small things, something the 900E does better for only $100 more

Tcl is a pretty good brand, Theyve gotten a lot of praise lately, I have the p607 & the s405

Both I've had no issues with. Brother-inlaw has a s405 also.
