New roommate bringing this router but he says we need a modem with it. We want the best modem money can buy to have the fastest internet.

We are upgrading. Any clue what the best package is for fastest upload and download?

We found one for 70$ a month internet at 300mbps download but it doesn’t show what the upload is

Most likely you only need fast download. 300 is very fast indeed. For the price that's amazing in my opinion.

For 300Mbps down, I'd go with an Arris SB6183. Will handle that throughput with no problem, as well as giving you overhead to accommodate speed upgrades the ISP may give you without having to buy a new modem right away (the SB6183 is rated for 686Mbps down, whereas the SB6141 is rated for 343Mbps, and doesn't leave much overhead for any speed boosts).

Was that speed test before or after the new modem was installed?
