I just picked up two 24” Acer monitors for dual screen, in addition to my good 32” monitor. They were meant for work.

I have to return the 24” monitors... They’re IPS LED... and crap. Colour accuracy is bad, hurt my eyes, corner backlight bleed is intense on both in bottom right, dead pixels, and yellow tint in backlight bleed areas. No ability to adjust sharpening, screen looks over sharpened by a couple notches.

Is there any way to make sure the next screens I get will just be... decent? I’m looking at spending under $200 per, 60hz, and 24”. I don’t want bigger than 25”, or smaller than 23.8”. I don’t care about higher refresh. What is critical for me is even backlight, easy on the eyes, no dead pixels, colours are good.

I might try an LG screen next. I don’t understand how panels that are claiming to be IPS and LED are worse in every way from TN panels I have from a decade ago. Worse colours, worse backlight bleed, worse ghosting.

I’ve bought cheap monitors before. Seems people think how you just commented, so they accept crap for $160 CAD per monitor. I just don’t want backlight bleed or screen harshness, and I want proper viewing angles for work purposes.

I’m not asking for resolution over 1080p, photo editing colour accuracy, refresh over 60hz, or much of anything really. Just the basics... a monitor that doesn’t display colours and tints and light that it isn’t supposed to/

Dell Ultrasharps come factory calibrated. So the image is awesome right out of the box.
I have a Dell U3011, 5 years old and still awesome.

Acer is trash, garbage brand that’s trying to become boutique. Buying their products is like buying a Hyundai and expecting Porsche quality

Get a dell ultrasharp, nec, or Eizo monitor if you’re working with color critical applications. You need to spend more for better quality
