First, I would like to say I am a noob to computer hardware and such but my friend works computers a lot (mainly for himself as personal hobby but unfortunately never messed with msi branded hardware so not familiar with the msi settings). For some reason, he was not able to edit any of the settings manually in the bios like he would normally do. It just doesn’t let him edit the stuff. Ended up using the msi auto oc which set it t 4.2 but have heard many people told me the auto oc is no good and better off without it so I turned it off.

Anyone know how I can oc it manually? Would I be able to achieve 4.5 safely?

I have a 750w psu. Please let me know if I am missing any other info. I would really like to be able to make use of this cpu as it’s only worth it overclocked supposedly.

Thank you !

There is a setting in the BIOS that "allows" changes to the BIOS. I would guess he still has that set to auto.

It's kinda hard to comment on any of this w/o knowing what make/model motherboard he has.

Bios is updated to newest, couldn’t edit the clock or anything, only can edit the b clock. He did all things computer related and didn’t know why, lol.

While in the BIOS, he needs to press the F7 key to get to the advanced settings. Once he is in the advanced settings he needs to choose "expert" as shown by the RED circle...

/e Other settings, further on in this area of the BIOS are dependent on setting that come before. He needs to seriously read the BIOS section in his motherboard manual.

Yes, he changed it to expert mode but he couldn't edit anything. He would change something but after he enters it and okays it, it changes back to default or whatever automatically as if he never edited it.
