/e topic says Router, meant modem.

Anyone reccomend the Docsis 3.0 Surfboard for a gaming modem? 100up/10 Down Speeds. Usually 2-3 Gaming PCs and Netflix running in the living room at all times. Had good experiences with Surfboards years ago when it was owned my Motorola but it looks like the name has been passed to a new company.

Curious if that would suffice or if it would be worth going to the DOCSIS 3.1 edition for the additional 130$ ( 3.0 is onsale for 50$ ATM MSRP is 100$)

Looking for a quick reply if possible

Currently using Cox Communitcation Proprietary " Panoramic WiFi Modem" which feels like garbage, it constantly power cycles and drops connection with Cox servers making us have to call them to get speeds above 5-10 MBPS down/ 1 UP

Make sure the modem works with your cox service before you buy anything. Some Internets really put the hurt on what you can do and make you use their equipment. I've come to find out that most of the time issued equipment is good and it designed specifically to work on their network.

It's supported. https://www.cox.com/residential/support/cox-certified-cable-modems.html

For 100Mbps service, the 6141 will suffice. If you think your service speed will go up significantly (whether by Cox bumping it or you paying for faster speed), you may want to go up to the SB6183 (avoid the SB6190, as it runs Intel's shitty Puma 6 chipset)

yea I bought the 6183 after reading some reviews along with

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01JOXW58I/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

figured that router would suffice for those on wifi in the house.
