So I'm trying to buy a nice TV for the house I'm moving into, but not as up to date on them, the last TV I bought was probably 8 years ago, and its still running.

Ideally I'm looking for a 55"-65" TV (more than 65 and the prices are ridiculous), but on top of watch TV/movies on it, I want to occasionally play a console game on that TV instead of having to do it on my computer.

So I would like to know what good and reasonably affordable televisions there are that are highly compatible with gaming.

Factors I know:
input lag
game option under picture mode

other than those, I'm clueless what would make a TV good for gaming, and input lag isn't as easy to find for some of the TVs I've shopped for so far.

Any help is appreciated.

So I'm looking for 120hz instead of 60hz for refresh?

Is there any way to find out how low the input lag is on a tv? Most sites I look on don't seem to offer it

Get an HDR TV. My buddy got a hella great deal at Sam's Club the other week. About 420 bucks for a 55" Samsung 4k HDR television. Amazing color gamut. Get something that'll look great if everyone else is going to be using it or watching you use it.

not to burst you bubble, but a samsung 55inch at that price, most likely doesnt have real HDR. im sure it still looks great though

Is this compatible with basic ps4 and 1080 televisions? Excellent picture is important to me, but not at a $1,000 dollar difference though. The most important thing for me is how it reacts to games, primarily the lag. I've played on TVs in the past that made most games simply unplayable. I am trying to avoid that again.

From what I've researched so far, it looks like a lot of the TVs I want are 500-1000. I'd like to try and keep it at 800 or less. However, I may need to raise the ceiling if further research shows a 55"+ gaming TV on average will cost me a bit more.

for input lag, lookup on rtings or maybe some other sites to see what they tested. lower is better.

many TVs now have a "game" mode to change it to, which can significantly lower input lag
