I got a new 4k monitor. it can only do 4k in 60 fps when using displayport. but 4k using the hdmi ports caps the frame rate at 30 fps.

i have the new 4k monitor hooked up to displayport. and fraps was showing things running above 30 fps.

but i just did "duplicate these displays" in the control panel so i can watch stuff on my 4k tv. the tv is hooked up via hdmi. but the new monitor is still using displayport. it looks like when doing this, it causes the new monitor to be capped at 30 fps? only when i duplicate the displays? why? any fix?

i know i can just do show only on the tv as a monitor. but i like to duplicate the displays because its easier to sit at my desk while changing things on the screen.

Make sure your cable is HDMI 2.0. 1.4 can only handle 4k@30fps.
As for dublicate the monitors and the secondary show a different refresh rate I do not think that's possible. Like It's not possible to have different resolutions when dublicating.

Edit: also make sure your gpu support hdmi 2.0

You could expand instead of dublicate. Open something like OBS on the TV and then make it show what happens on your main monitor (fullsceen it). There would be a bit of a delay.

If using HDMI make sure your cable supports 4K @ 60hz and you have the settings changed in Display Adapter Properties
