I need to get rid of my data but keep the OS on my laptop how do I do that?

Unless you re-installed Windows at some time...there should be a factory restore partition on the laptop. You can restore to that, and then just let it update itself via Windows Updates.

if windows 10 you can simply "refresh"

Reset on a Win 10 PC will do that...I believe Refresh will keep the personal data.

Sometimes that isn't the best choice on a laptop.
Depending on the manufacturer, the drivers can sometimes be a lot harder to gather and install, than they should be.

delete EVERYTHING you want gone. At this point, the illegal porn files are still on the drive and recoverable... so what you need to do is start writing to the drive a LOT. Just go from empty aside from the OS to being 100% full with garbage data, then delete it all again. Do it a bunch of times to be sure. Eventually the files will be gone/unrecoverable and you will be 'dataless' save for the OS.
