alright, I am looking for a Desktop PCI wifi adapter.
I prefer 1 with a 5 to 10 ft cable ( idk if length matters, or if i should have cable or no cable )

My samsung galaxy s8 Plus..... $980 phone... can't pick up signals 0.4 miles away...
but my new $299.99 laptop can pick up a signal thats 0.4 miles away but its at about 1 out of 5 bars...

Is there any type of wifi adapter usb/pci , or even 1 of those wifi box... retreiver things...
that might help me get that 0.4 mile signal at maybe a minimum of 4 bars?

when looking/comparing... is there a measurement i can use to see how much distance the adapter antenna would support?
like Max distance 1 Mile @ 2 MB/s download / 512kb upload
0.5 miles @ 3mb/1mb
0.3 miles @ 5mb / 2mb
0.3 miles or less max ISP speed ect.. example charter 100mb download / 28 upload.

Like how do i know which one will provide more bars of signal? and possibly the least amount of ping?
Prefer Ping to be 200 or less in games.

Currently using Tmboile 4G LTE at 3 bars... Tethering my phone...
I get like 180 to 238 ping in diablo 3/ minecraft / most games
pings as low as 119 on clear sky days...

But doing an update on a game... or anything takes for ever !

Living at grandmas, she won't leave the house, can't get internet installed.
Free wifi at the bar down the road, and or the nighbors house also down the road... both about 0.4 to 0.5 miles

it should be possible.
I've done it before back when i had windows xp, and when windows 7 first came out.. back in like late 2007.
But I accidentally broke the dumb thing in 2011...
It picked up signals almost 0.7 miles away, because i could pick up my friends wifi, and he lived 3 streets down.
If i remembered what the damn name of it was, i would get another... it was only like 30 bucks too

Such trolls.
Nobody would pay for internet if you could connect at that range...
I could believe the 500 to 1000 ft in the air plane story.... if you were directly above the wifi location... but no ha ha.

Oh sorry I read your question wrong.
