Looking to upgrade my desktop and learn a little more about the mech keyboards on the market,
I read up about the different mechanical switches available and their styles, and I have a feeling I'm really going to like switch to a mech.
( Please note : I have always purchased the $12 keyboard at Best Buy or used the one that comes with a cheap tower.)
The desktop was always more for my parents to just send emails and do their taxes than myself, and I preferred my laptop for college.
That being said, getting nice desktop accessories is new territory. However I have a couple of questions/inclusions I would like to have on the keyboard, and was wondering if anyone could shed some light for me.
1) Where is the best place to purchase one? I usually do most of my shopping through amazon, saw they had a pretty good selection on there.
Any other recommendations? Newegg, etc. Maybe somewhere that has a better selection?
2) Would really like it to include macros , I've seen some models have the option for a couple programmable macros.
3) Are the LED lights necessary? Most of my keyboard use is tactile, I really think the LEDs would be annoying as hell to have.
Sort of like when I shop for a headunit in my car.. I look for one that I can turn the LED options off lol.
I know, I'm weird, but seriously.. isn't that distracting to you?
4) As far as recommendations go, I'm not really looking to spend over $100. It looks like there are a lot of reputable brands that have good options for under $75
5) So far this is one that i found on Amazon for a good price with what seems like all my requirements (
Can the LED's be turned off/down...?).
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M4LIKLI/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DERJust wondering if anyone could tell me anything in specific about this model/make ( Corsair )
Also is it worth it to get the mouse? Does it support macro functions, etc?
I have a nice wireless mouse for my laptop so I was thinking of just keeping that unless there is an upgrade in compatibility or function.
Thanks for the input, everyone. This post was edited by Keasbey_Nights on Dec 28 2017 09:46am
