i use a hackintosh with vmware fusion. I am able to run windows xp as a virtual os. You can install d2 on a virtual os. However, your cpu and motherboard must support virtulization. I think it's called vt-d.
Another option is using wine. But it is not as good as using virtual os.
i just think blizzard's modern installer and client in general are hot garbage compared to the original iso's, running a windows vm kind of defeats the purpose
