Okay, so I have a (new to me) new computer. Windows 7 Pro ordered from newegg.

I have had some trouble from the start which may be operator error but I simply just want to have my GPU working

First issue: when first installing and inputting product key , the windows updates got stuck on "checking for updates" . googled and followed the guides to fix the problem. Issue resolving as of right now.

Second issue: I have installed my GPU and went about the installation I am familiar with by the CD that came with it. The card itself is about 2 years old so I don't have all of the specific information aside from its part number on the actual card. After GIGABYTE GURU installs AMD catalyst freezes at "checking computer components"

I check dxdiag --> display and it only shows what I imagine is the graphics information that is already on the CPU

Computer recognized Graphics device: AMD Radeon HD 7540D + R7 200 Dual Graphics
My gpu PN: GIGABYTE GV-R725OC-2GI

I am not familiar with deleting/installing drivers and all of that. I can do it if instructed but to go and start deleting things im not familiar or comfortable enough to do it without proper instructions.

What is "Gigabyte Guru"?

As for reinstalling drivers (if you need to), here...

DDU Instructions - Nvidia/AMD
1. Get this program, here: https://www.wagnardsoft.com/ ...get the latest versionh, and save it to your desktop.
2. Get your vid card driver here, use the Manual Search: Nvidia: http://www.geforce.com/drivers ...or AMD: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download ...save this to your desktop.
3. Run DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) choose: Nvidia or AMD, then choose the "Highly Recommend Option", and just do what it tells you. If it wants to go into "Safe Mode", let it.
4. After it's done and comp has rebooted to normal mode, just double click the Nvidia or AMD driver ( that you saved to your desktop in step #2) ...to install. If it want's to reboot, let it.

/e I looked up Gigabyte Guru...just uninstall that. Utilities that come with vid cards, and even motherboards...are generally useless, and sometimes, they cause problems.

That's what it should say. Now install the AMD vid card driver, that you get from AMD website.
