I picked up two identical USB 2.0 sticks recently: 64gb Lexie S50. I wanted something that wasn’t too new, I wanted something that has been around enough to show it doesn’t break 13 months out of the gate. Bought two so I back one up to the other periodically.

The purpose of the drives is to store Excel, word, PDF, jpeg, and other simple files mostly. Work and professional development.

I am wondering if I am leaving it plugged in for 1-8 hours in the day, and reading/writing to it every 10 minutes or so, 5 days a week, will the thing break down on me in the next day... 6 years?

Can’t find info on the flash memory quality. I had to return the 3.0 I bought because it was all plastic, it physically wouldn’t have lasted. I needed something now so didn’t order online, just don’t care about transfer speeds for transfers that might max out at 100 megabytes at a time. Just trying to figure out how long I can use these until I might need to cycle them out for new ones.

Not even sure why were doing physical back ups.
Just save to a cloud storage system for real redundancy.
Password lock your excel/word sheets so even if your breached your safe.

Just google Windows Usb tool or w/e its called. Microsoft has a software tool that downloads & sets up a USB as a Win7/8/10 Installer.
