5960x to a 8700k?

Haven't kept up a ton lately. Seems like a decent chip for the money and it wouldn't really cost me much outside of maybe 100 dollars after I sell my chip/mobo.

Thoughts?

It does not seem worth the trouble to me, is your cpu bottlenecking your system or do you just want something new?

I see no point in the upgrade then, that sounds like a lot of work to swap out for a new cpu/mobo and sell the old set when ya don't need to.

8 core 16 thread to a 6 core 12 thread.

On what planet is that an upgrade?

/E I suppose the upgrade to DDR4 and the gaming performance difference is a thing, I would argue it's certainly NOT worth the $380 processor, $200 motherboard, and $160 for 16GB way overpriced DDR 4. At least not compared to what you have now.
