it's going to be less cost effective than ryzen then get slaughtered by ryzen 2 in performance because the PIII core has been optimized to the limit already and ryzen hasn't even hit puberty yet.
best they can hope for is for their i3/i5 line to actually be considered an option at all again for most people.

yeah i can see the i3/i5 being the better buy. However intel i7 is capped at 12 threads, so it'll probably lose to the 1700/1800 in workstation aspect. Though 6/12t should be more than enough to do anything these days while destroying shit in games.

Might see 8core i7 on mainstream with gen after
Z370 might be 1 gen too
But then again intel might go one platform instead of mainstream and enthusiast

But I'm telling you a secret. In terms of gaming, the star is not 8700K, but 8600K overclock. 8600K is a real beast. It's cool and can run steady at 5.3 GHz using an AIO cooler. You will see on Oct. 5 when I know that I can publish that processor to what I mean.

If this is true... holy

I hit five and booted into Windows but it was never stable.

I was stable for about an hour on Prime 95. I never did try it with games at the time. Then I went back a few years later but couldn't get it to work like I did.
I would hit 5 and it would freeze up in Windows. Here at least is a clip of my success once upon a time.
