my monitor is 60hz but can go up to 75hz (through oc)

how much does oc damage monitors?

I mean I have a older monitor that started to fade rather than anything else happening to it. Is it safe to say my monitor would begin to fade even before it would die from oc?

I'd rather my monitor last so just want to know the type of lifespan it could ruin if i oc it.

btw my video card is a sc so I figure maybe a monitor oc could be similar? though wouldn't a monitor oc be 24/7 and maybe that's not so good

this is my monitor

what connector are you using? DVI?

You should probably disassociate 'damage' with 'OC' in your head.

im using either dvi or dual link dvi that came with the monitor

im not sure it might really be bad I mean maybe worse if i pushed beyond 75? that'd be cool though if it wasn't that bad for it to oc

I just checked heroes of the storm and it can go at 68 fps in intense fights lowest usually 90+ in extreme gfx which is what i'd play. do you think that 7 fps might make screen tear or anything? i didnt have vsync on and i didnt notice any but just wondering

60hz and 75hz are no different really. thats marginal at best. i had a 60hz gaming laptop that i thought was super lame so i went for an 80hz which was just as lame. now im on 120hz which is actually quite enjoyable, doubt 144 would do much more difference tho.

tl;dr get something with 120 or more hz.

Lol 75hz makes a difference to me and this depends on the user
Around 120-130 mark When i quit noticing any difference but then again haven't really messed around with anything higher than 144hz

ok fair enough i mean i am happy with 60hz just seems fun to try especially maybe for OW and heroes of the storm (games that my video card can handle)

what about the ports, which one do you think produces the best quality? does anyone know if displayport would diminish or increase the quality at all? like I said im using some kind of dvi one and maybe that's the best? their could be more than 1 reason to get a displayport if maybe the quality is better and more hz

would also be cool if their was a program to adjust hz at any time also so i'm not oc'd 24/7 when just browsing web, etc
