I have an old ACER laptop used for school. I'm wondering if it's just age or if one of the microsoft updates screwed up my files.

The Problem
basically sometimes when I alt+tab between two programs, the alt tab menu shows up and it follows through, however it doesn't alt+tab, it snaps back into the original window I had open.
Sometimes the other window would appear on screen for about half a second before snapping back.
This normally happens between PDF files and Excel or Excel+Stata.

Could this have to be with the microsoft office framework?

launch regedit, add a DWORD named AltTabSettings to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer and set its value to 1.

this should do it

or this

Go to System Properties (right click Computer in an explorer window and choose properties)
Click Advanced System Settings in the left panel
You should be on the Advanced Tab, in the performance section, click Settings
Uncheck Enable Aero Peek
