So i am trying to connect to a wifi signal from a router that is far away. i dont have physical access to the router.

i have a shitty wireless usb dongle. it works well for closer routers. but this further one is making it get horrible speeds and bad connection.

would a better wireless card adapter help the speeds? or would the distance of the router be the bigger bottleneck?

the router is in another room, around 100 ft away. there are several walls, and a whole building floor away.

im wondering if a better wireless adapter is able to be more sensitive to the wifi signal and be able to increase the signal. instead of boosting the wifi signal coming from the router, is it possible to increase the capabilities of the adapter that picks up that signal?

Yes

A pci card with some type of dongle will give you better connectivity.

i prefer the external adapters, but i guess anything that is usb will be weaker?

actually an internal one is fine, the main thing i wanted is to be able to position the antenna. like this one comes with an extra long antenna to position it where i need to https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GC-WB867D-I-Bluetooth-Frequency-Expansion/dp/B00HF8K0O6/ref=sr_1_32?ie=UTF8&qid=1499654301&sr=8-32&keywords=wireless%20pci%20adapter

but i also heard that "PCIe 2.0 x1 is 500MBps upload and download, whereas USB 3.0 is 5 Gbps, or 625 MBps upload and download."

my internet speeds will never reach that... so wondering if there is still a benefit of usb vs pcie?

im getting around 70 to 80 RSSI. "other people" closer to it are getting around 60 RSSI
