What headset/headphones should I get for gaming and music? I dont necessarily need a microphone, would just be a bonus, incase im not at home.

Budget is probably around 250$ (could go higher, depending if its worth it). Cheaper is better ofcourse, aslong the sound/build/comfortable qualities doesnt suffer too much.

Been looking at hyper x cloud 2, sennheiser game one, beyerdynamic dt 770 and more.
Kinda like a jungle for me atm.
Not sure if theres better out there (for the same-ish price range)?

Will don8 some fg if you give me a good response :)

770 are closed, They wouldnt be the best for positional audio for gaming.

K/Q701 are within that budget & Are god-tier for gaming (And everything else really) But you wouldn't get their full potential without a decent amp.

Dt990 would be the pair to get for gaming, Out of the Beyerdynamic trio. But keep in mind the Bass/Treble are extremely prominent with them, It's a VERY V shaped sound signature.

Another popular choice for Sub $250 is Sennheiser 595/598. There's also the Sennheiser 6xx on massdrop at the moment, Unfortunately their Estimated ship time is December :/

Modmic & Massdrop both make mics that attach to pretty much any headphone, making them a 'headset' Roughly $50 & $25 Respectively.

iirc the game ones are based on the 598's

So, if I wanted them for gaming only, you would rate them in the following order?
q701 (or DT990 ??) > sennheiser game 1 > ??

the q701 seems to be about 400$ where I live (only like 1 shop that has them in stock atm)
where as the dt990 is like 160-200$.

q701 seems nice, but not sure if they are worth it, if its twice the price

Currently I only have the onboard soundcard, so Im guessing if I go above ~50 ohm, I need an amp/sound card?

K702 are the same as q701
k701 are the same, but without the removable cable

The k/q701 are Very neutral, So nothing is overly emphasized.
The treble on the dt990's can kill your ears, if you're sensitive to treble.

Yes and no for ohms. While higher ohms are harder to drive & typically require a better amp, Certain headphones with low ohms are just as hard, if not harder to drive.

The k/q701 are known for being power hungry, Especially for the low end bass.

Dont really care about the power need tbh ^^
k701/702 seems to be way cheaper, so ill definetly go with that one over the q701, if I decide to go with those.

Im not really sure if Im sensitive to treble tho, maybe a bit

What would be the best for (immersive) gaming tho? neutral headphones (like the 701?) or the V shaped shound(like the dt990)?

Would the 701 / dt990 require an amp to run properly?

edit:
Some reviews says the the k701 can be a bit uncomfortable for longer sessions tho :/

Personally 701's

The 990's had better explosions since they had more bass, But I preferred the 701's in almost every other aspect.

The 701 need an amp for better bass/overall quality

The 990 (Especially the 250/600 ohm) need an amp for more volume/overall quality

There are some really good inexpensive dac/amps available now though.

/e as for comfort, It depends on the person. I never had an issue, But some people complain about the 'bumps' in the headband causing discomfort.

kinda leaning towards the 701 too, but again.. Ive changed my mind like 10 times already within the last couple of hours xD
Only con I can think about the 701, is they could potentially be uncomfortable, which could be a pretty big deal for longer gaming sessions
