Ooo... 2 months. Depends on the promos at the time. But, new mobo/cpu... you won't be able to go super recent I don't think unless you upgrading DDR3 ram to DDR4.

i don't think you can change to an overclocking haswell platform on that budget sadly, unless you've already got a decent cooler that would be compatible with lga-1150.

something like an i5-4690 would be a good bet for mmo's, over your current triple core fx chip.

That's really not much to work with. Especially since things are moving towards ddr4 so You'd have to get new ram.

Could you wait a little & throw more at it?

i have a coolermaster cooler, it was $30 idr name.

not looking for something to crazy overclock. intel is just in general gonna give much more performance in mmo's than this shitty fx6300 amd cpu will.

Bulldozer is a shitheap of an architecture, if I were you I would go into the bios and disable 1 core per module, effectively making it into a triple core, since that's pretty much what the 6300 is already. This will ensure BDO isn't running into stuttering related to poor scheduling causing threads to wait for the one fpu or set of l2/l3 cache per module that 2 cores share to be ready.

BDO does not use more than 2 cores anyway, IIRC.

You'd be surprised how much this might help. You should also be able to overclock the chip a bit further in this state.

it honestly saddens me that the ftc didn't get on their case for marketing their fx chips as having twice as many cores as they really did
