PositivesFrom a stock cooler to this is great.
Went from 60-70c while playing PUBG on a traditionally HOT cpu- The AMD FX-8350, Older AMD known for their crazy high temperatures. This thing helps it a LOT.
My idle temps went down by about 10C, but you can salt that 5-15C because of thermal pastes.
The Cool Master came with a crazy amount of extra Arctic Silver 5 Thermal compound, and that I can give props to. For the Pea-size Thermal paste you need, it gives you a grapes worth- in case you need to reapply several times.
EXTREMELY quiet- I went from my stock cooler making my room an echo at almost 45db!! It sounded like a car engine from 10ft away!
I can barely hear it now! It sounds like a mechanical kitten purr~! A GREAT thing for headphone users. Playing PUBG, I could barely tell the difference between a footstep and my CPU fan going to 90%! It was THAT loud!
NegativesInstallation was a pain in the ass for my motherboard + Case!
I'm using the Gigabyte GA-970A-D3P and when in the case the motherboard fan power connectors were just too close to this monster size cooler.
The dip-ins for where you can place your screwdriver for smaller cases were not helpful at all. The screw dip-ins were about half the size they need to be to get an accurate screw-in. By that I mean you have to come in at an angle. And being that it sits OVER my first 2 ports of ram, it was harder than usual to get my big hands in there.
It's really really big... And when working to screw everything in right, that can be a problem for even SMALLER motherboards + cases. I recommend NOT using anything smaller than a mid tower for this- and possibly not using anything smaller than a FULL tower.
