I currently have an i5 6400, and was wondering if upgrading to an i7 would cause any issues with my system. My mobo is LGA1151 and supports i7, but would it mess with my os or anything to switch now?

Have a 3gb 1060, 16 gigs ddr4. It's a newer computer, just built on a budget but now I have more expendable money so was wondering if it's be a worth while upgrade to i7 7700

Sorry, very out of the loop with this stuff. You mean the processor would be out performing everything else?

Yes

What do you play

What makes you want to upgrade (bad frames, was higher settings, etc)

Nothing too intense. Playing tomb raider atm and about to start rise of tomb raider. Have it running on max atm. Looking to get witcher 3. But don't really know if I want to go over 1900x1080. Or do you think I could now?
