So for example, I just bought a new Samsung TV from an unauthorized dealer. the TV was much cheaper on this website i bought it from and the website has a decent reputation.

Samsung said the TV will come with a normal 1 year warranty, even though it is an unauthorized seller. But the only difference they told me on the phone, is that an authorized sell can offer to sell me an extended warranty....

But I called square trade and they are willing to sell a warranty for the TV. so this makes it seem like buying from an authorized dealer, for samsung TVs at least, is pointless?

The ONLY bad thing I could see, if you buy from an unauthorized dealer....might be...if you ever have to RMA the thing.
Samsung themselves might use that as an excuse to turn down the RMA.


Personally, I wouldn't worry about it that much. You could always call Samsung direct, and just ask.
