So I wanted to do a factory reset on my asks laptop, 5 years of college and there's a lot of programs and files I don't need.
Did a Windows 10 reset but said there was an problem even though it cleaned everything, tried again and same issue, did a f9 reset and went back to Windows 8 and still said there was a problem, tried a couple things in admin command prompt, something bout illegal character. Microsoft and asus support have either been useless or try and sell me something, I'm not an expert but I don't understand why I'm having such a hard time of it, thanks reading, post or pm if you can help

Download the windows 10 iso and try on a usb or the computers recovery partition.
windows 10 bounds to the mobo so the device should still activate.
alternatively the key may be located on the bottom or under the battery.
