Skype has been insta crashing when I call / receive a call since today. Worked fine last night?

Hangouts was doing it on firefox, too.

gtx 970 latest nvidia patch doing this?

Reinstalled it twice, reinstalled skype, nothing.

Hangouts works on chrome? Games work fine.. dota 2 etc.. no video problems on youtube.

see if skype has an update or use an older version.
alternatively you can roll back drivers.

run ddu

install last version and restart pc?

Use w/e version of the driver that did not cause the problem.
Same can be said of Skype.

oh and since i've seen this A LOT with amd cards you can try installing the drivers and skipping the extra shit like nvidia's geforce crap.

i use shadow play a lot

i guess ill wait until a new update to install that

just roll back it may or may not be that.
just CCC from amd crashes skype a whole lot for some people.
