Ok so I was with Bell and they charge too much so I left them.

I grabbed a land line from Distributel for cheap, but it requires an internet connection and I'm using my building's internet.

In order to get my building's internet to my computer, I have a d-link plugged into a power outlet and a RJ45 cable runs to my computer. My new phone has its own little modem and it requires a RJ45 cable to be connected to a modem (or I'm assuming just something that can give it internet connection?). But my d-link only has 1 ethernet port.

If I were to get an ethernet port splitter to plug into my d-link and then plug both the phone and my computer, would the phone work and would I be losing any speed in the process?

You want a new router/modem/switch not a splitter.

Helps to know what you have exactly. DSL but whats the make/model of this d-link u have.
Also assuming you have a Viop phone service and a DSL line.
