ive used a jjrc h31 drone, its like 22 bucks on a website i found a bit ago. really fun, super cheap drone. now im looking into building my own FPV drone. except i dont really want to spend alot on the camera and the goggles. and well also the controller for the drone can be expensive.

FPV goggles, can run around $300. the drone controller can run around $150 or $220.

but without the goggles. and if you get a $40 cheap basic controller, you can probably build a nice drone for around $200. still a bit expensive but they are fun and i think its neat to try and build my own.

any1 built their own drone? or own a drone that they fly?

basically a mini computer that flies... well sort of

to be able to do something like this would be awesome in FPV

damn, when he gets back i gotta talk to him about this. just curious about some basic tips and stuff. i am looking into alot of materials online, but theres so much stuff.

like the frame, parts, the camera, the receiver....

then theres stuff about the computer software that you use to tune the drone i think? then there is the soldering and other basic equipment needed... so much

also probably a basic question.... but nearly every video where someone is soldering stuff, they are working on some sort of bench that has grid lines all over it. what type of work station is this? or is it just protective cover they use? its clearly some common thing

like this, i guess its a craft mat?

It's just a craft mat.

Actually it's a self healing cutting mat...like this:

ESD mats are not cheap. They are un-necessary for a project or two.
It's far more important to ground the person.

Hell, an old rubber car floor mat would be fine.

The craft mats are self healing rubber. They work fine for this kind of project.
Plus they are ruled, which also comes in really handy.
