Last made my rig back in 2013, when the 3570k was king for cost/effectiveness for gaming rigs.

Will be considering making a new rig soon, and when I saw the i7-7700k it seems like, especially with its price, the go-to chip for gaming (especially since one game I actively play is heavily single core dependant)

New Ryzen's dropped but none of them seems to have decent single core clock rates besides the top 1800X, that costs nearly 200 dollars more than a i7-7700k.

My question is, obviously the i7-7700k is better than any Ryzen for overall gaming. Anyone with experience with an i7-7700k know how well Streaming/Video Recording will fair with it? I believe that's where the Ryzen will shine, but with an initial drop in frames, would it really be beneficial to get the 1800X for 200 dollars more?

I still feel the i7-7700k would be better overall while gaming and streaming than any Ryzen, especially if I OC it to 5.0 GHz.

The 7700k would indeed be better for gaming at 5GHz than the new AMD offerings.

What do you plan to stream?

Yeah dude, it irks me that intel used toothpaste for the IHS, people getting 25C better temps from deliding these things and replacing with liquid metal.

One big props to Ryzen is that they used a metal alloy with gold film under the IHS. I have yet to see anyone get one of those cpus above 60C with a decent cooler.

Yep... My chip can get to 5.0 but the temps are retarded at that point (maybe further but I hit temp threshold before I can do any testing on that)
Currently have it at 4.7 so the fans don't spin up to airplane levels.
Got a kraken x52 sitting on it too :/

Doing it in push pull would help by like 3c under load.

The only real way to fix the problem though is to delid that sucker. I would do it from a noise standpoint alone.

Can't run push pull, bullet bh4 case. Not enough room
Also that's why it's clocked so low - NN noise
