I moved in with my aunt and uncle, their 1 year old baby keeps going into my room, and tripping and keeps landing on the front side of my computer tower...
breaking the 35$ USB wifi sticks that I keep buying at wal-mart pretty much every week now.
Probably the 5th time in the last 3 weeks.

The Internet Modem from " Arris brand " Is in the aunt & uncles room.
I have a netgear N300 wifi router wnr 2000v5

My idea

Outside internet cable - Arris - wirelessly to - netgear n3000 - Lan cable to - desktop.

so basically my question is... is there a way to connect / get internet access from the modem to my router wirelessly?
I can buy another cheap router.

I just don't like the USB stick... their baby likes to unplug things. ( can't reach the back of the computer , only the front thank god )

I almost thought about using a PCI wifi thing , but all those 1,2,3 antenna's confuse me.//"??

reason i wanted a router. is to possibly Port forward for minecraft and stuff. ( but im not sure if that would be possible ) with this wireless Method that i am seeking help with.

Buy outdoor rated cat5 and some cable clamps and run it outside around the house like coax. Then cut in some low voltage rings and punch it down to w cat5 jack. After use patch cables to hook your computer to wall and wall to router. Silicon all holes drilled in the house from outside.

Alternately buy a USB extension cord (male to female) and move the location of the WiFi adapter.

Or, you could get a wireless gaming adapter and connect that to the Ethernet jack on the back of the computer.

Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/TRENDnet-Wireless-Gaming-Adapter-TEW-647GA/dp/B0024G48VA

Thanks , ill check out all of those options guys.

I got foxfi and PDANet for My samsung Galaxy s5 phone for now, and have auto connect setup as I plug my phone into my computer to charge my phone at home anyways.

Surprisingly with the phone, the Ping in diablo 3 is normally 138 with wal-mart usb wifi adapter.
ping was 92 using my cellphone.
Normally ping 76 using a ethernet cable.
so 16 ping difference.... Im happy with the phone for now.
but im still going to check out that powerline thing, that seems simple enough.
Gaming adapter im sure will show good results as well.

My modem port forwards so i don't have an issue :)

Did speed test at speedtest.net
